When American television went digital in early 2009 Backchannelmedia took a strategic leap by creating a new revenue channel for cable companies, advertisers, networks and their affiliates. But it didn’t have a clear vision of how to describe its highly technical product features in language that made sense to ordinary viewers. We saw an opportunity to simplify their offering and present a new episode in the continuing story of interactive television.

How do you create a "new" market for an "old" technology?

You have to prove the benefits and explain the “news” in a way that helps people relate your offer to something they already know and want.  Real innovation can be hard to sell, especially when it’s a complex product or service. To create genuine excitement you have to truly understand your market and make sure you’re speaking their language.
